Hyperdub Publishing joins Beggars Music

Hyperdub is the legendary label founded by Steve Goodman (AKA Kode9) in London in 2004. Growing out of Goodman’s cult dance music blog, over the past two decades they’ve cemented their status as a home for innovative, experimental and boundary-pushing electronic music, launching the careers of iconic artists such as Burial, DJ Rashad, Lorraine James, Dean Blunt, Jessy Lanza, Laurel Halo, Fatima Al Qadiri, Ikonika, Babyfather and many more.

Today, Beggars Music announce an exciting new partnership with Hyperdub, taking over the administration and working collaboratively on additions to their publishing catalogue.

This deal includes the acquisition by Beggars Music of Burial’s entire catalogue. Mercury-nominated for his era-defining album Untrue, Burial (AKA William Bevan) is a once in a generation talent whose influence on contemporary electronic music is undeniable. He has collaborated with Thom Yorke, Four Tet, Zomby and The Bug.

As well as Burial, Hyperdub’s publishing roster features label founder Kode9, Jessy Lanza, Lee Gamble, OKZharp, Mana, Proc Fiskal and Manthe Ribane, a roster which brings a wealth of compositional talent and a diverse catalogue of pioneering electronic music.

The partnership comes at a pivotal moment for Hyperdub who celebrate their 20th anniversary this year with a series of events including a takeover of London’s Fabric on March 15th, as well as parties in Milan, Manchester, and as part of Primavera Sound, Nuits Sonores and We Out Here festivals.

We are thrilled to be in business with Hyperdub, one of the most iconic and influential electronic music labels of our time. We feel a kinship in their approach to nurturing truly unique and groundbreaking talent and feel that the Hyperdub writers will compliment the Beggars Music roster perfectly, while occupying a distinct space.” – Molly O’Brien, Head of Creative, Beggars Music

“Both ourselves and the artists on the publishing roster are very excited in starting this new collaboration with the team at Beggars. We’re looking forward to pushing our current writers into new spaces and opportunities as well as joining forces with new up and coming creatives to expand the roster”
