Joanne Robertson signs to 4AD Songs

We’re very happy to welcome Glasgow based musician and painter Joanne Robertson to the 4AD Songs Roster.

Joanne brings with her an impressive and diverse catalogue including her latest album Blurrr  – released via AD 93 in 2025 to widespread critical acclaim. Written between painting sessions and also whilst raising a child, Blurrr is a record of loose and playful intuition, born from the improvisatory moments of expression that form both her musical and artistic practice. Robertson’s vocals and guitar drift, murmur and whisper across the record; fostering a deep intimacy as unknown emotions rise up from the well.

Her distinctive guitar style and unmistakable vocal are staples of Dean Blunt’s extensive catalogue of songs – placing her firmly in the World Music sonic universe. Other collaborators have included Oliver Coates, Elias Ronnenfelt and David Cunningham

“The arresting thing about Robertson, and what makes her latest so effective, is her aversion to absolutes.” Resident Advisor

“Blurrr practically demands you listen intently, aware that each moment counts. A muted gem, Joanne Robertson’s restraint sees Blurrr reach fresh heights.” Clash Music

“Blurrr, Robertson’s sixth solo album and her undisputed masterpiece, is at points so beautiful… that it feels difficult to breathe alongside it.” Pitchfork
