Lankum

Lankum are a Mercury nominated group of award-winning multi-instrumentalists from Ireland with over 20 years experience writing and arranging music.

Following two acclaimed albums, their third record ‘The Livelong Day’ paved the way for critical and commercial success, earning them that year’s RTE Choice Music Prize (the Irish equivalent of the Album of the Year Grammy) and the #8 spot on NPR Music’s Best Albums of the Year list. Drawing on traditional folk songs, Lankum put their own dark, distinctive mark onto each, leaning into heavy drones and sonic distortion that imparts new intensity and beauty into each track. Their fourth album False Lankum, released in April 2023, saw the band cement their breakout from the folk genre, and earned them a coveted Mercury Prize nomination.

Lankum’s music has featured in the A24 film All God’s Children, Shane Meadows‘ series The Gallow’s Pole and the documentary Finding Jack Charlton. Radie Peat worked on the score for the Netflix series 1899, and Ian Lynch is currently working on the score for Paul Duane’s upcoming film All You Need Is Death. The group have regularly collaborated with fashion designer Simone Rocha, playing live at her shows and scoring campaign films. They have also collaborated with Ian Carter (Sweep Stakes), Morgan O’Kane, Blackbird Raum, Deviant & Naive Ted.
