King Krule
Archy Marshall is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Peckham, South London.
Marshall first captured listeners’ attention aged 16, releasing tracks online under his artist moniker “Zoo Kid”, but it was his debut self-titled EP as King Krule—released in 2011 through cult NYC label True Panther—that catapulted him to success and earned him teen-prodigy status. Pitchfork described the record as “an important moment in time marked on a door frame– it’s an intriguing peek into the restless, youthful development of King Krule.”
King Krule’s highly anticipated debut album 6 Feet Beneath the Moon arrvied via True Panther and XL Recordings in 2013, on Marshall’s 19th Birthday. The album was well-received by the likes of The FADER, New York Times, New Yorker, Pitchfork, Observer, NPR, NME, the Wall Street Journal, and more. His performances of “Easy Easy” and “A Lizard State” on the US chat shows Late Show with David Letterman and Conan, respectively, later that year went on to become viral sensations.
Since then Marshall has remained one of his generation’s most enduringly beloved artists, releasing three further albums as King Krule; Mercury Prize-nominated The Ooz (2017), Man Alive! (2020) and Space Heavy (2023), as well as 2015’s A New Place 2 Drown – released by XL Recordings under Archy Marshall, and a live album – 2021’s You Heat Me Up, You Cool Me Down.
As a collaborator, Marshall is a regular presence in Mount Kimbie’s music, writing and lending vocals to tracks on all three of their albums. He has also written and produced with Wiki, Okay Kaya, Raveena, Horsey, Pinty, Ratking.
In summer 2024 King Krule released an EP SHHHHHH! The record features four much-talked-about, highly sought-after tracks – “Achtung”, “All Soup Now”, “Time For Slurp”, “Whaleshark” – previously only available via flexi-discs sold during King Krule’s 2023 Shhhhh Tour.
